<br />-. r f,' <br />..it> <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 23, 1980 <br /> <br />Mayor Greene, whose home was recently burglarized, suggested that study be given <br /> <br />by Council to the possibility of adopting an ordinance which would require buyers <br /> <br />and sellers of gold and silver to withhold sales of gold and silver objects for a <br /> <br />specified period of time following their acquisition. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 2.1-344(1) and (6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), <br /> <br />and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council <br /> <br />convened into an Executive Session for the purpose of considering (a) appointing <br /> <br />members to an ad hoc citizens committee, hereinbefore referred to, (b) the appointing <br /> <br />of a member of the Industrial Development Authority, and (c) a call for arbitration of <br /> <br />a current dispute with the Henry County Public Service Authority over the terms of the <br /> <br />City's sewage treatment contract with the Authority. Upon reconvening into regular <br /> <br />session, Council unanimously reappointed Mr. Sutton S. Flythe, Jr., to a new four-year <br /> <br />term on the Industrial Development Authority, beginning September 27, 1980; and, <br /> <br />authorized the arbitration of the aforesaid dispute with the Henry County Public Service <br /> <br />Authority, with Council designating Mr. Garland Paige (of Wiley & Wilson, Consulting <br /> <br />Engineers) as the City's representative on the three-person arbitration board. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />, Clerk of Council <br />
