-. r f,'
..it>

TUESDAY

SEPTEMBER 23, 1980

Mayor Greene, whose home was recently burglarized, suggested that study be given

by Council to the possibility of adopting an ordinance which would require buyers

and sellers of gold and silver to withhold sales of gold and silver objects for a

specified period of time following their acquisition.

Pursuant to Section 2.1-344(1) and (6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended),

and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council

convened into an Executive Session for the purpose of considering (a) appointing

members to an ad hoc citizens committee, hereinbefore referred to, (b) the appointing

of a member of the Industrial Development Authority, and (c) a call for arbitration of

a current dispute with the Henry County Public Service Authority over the terms of the

City's sewage treatment contract with the Authority. Upon reconvening into regular

session, Council unanimously reappointed Mr. Sutton S. Flythe, Jr., to a new four-year

term on the Industrial Development Authority, beginning September 27, 1980; and,

authorized the arbitration of the aforesaid dispute with the Henry County Public Service

Authority, with Council designating Mr. Garland Paige (of Wiley & Wilson, Consulting

Engineers) as the City's representative on the three-person arbitration board.

Council was adjourned.

, Clerk of Council
