<br />, /1 r) <br />'::d <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 9, 1980 <br /> <br />Housing Rehabilitation Program, now in the process of getting underway. <br /> <br />Upon being informed by Mayor Greene that he will be unable to attend the <br /> <br />forthcoming 1980 Virginia Municipal League Conference, at Arlington, Virginia, <br /> <br />Council designated Vice-Mayor Cole as the City's official voting delegate and <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes as the City's alternate voting delegate. <br /> <br />Upon inquiry from Councilman Reed, Council was informed that the construction <br /> <br />of the shelter for the Farmers' Market Associate, temporarily delayed, should be <br /> <br />completed without further delay. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, and pursuant <br /> <br />to Section 2.1-344(6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), Council convened <br /> <br />into an Executive Session to be briefed by City Attorney Worthy on (1) the City's <br /> <br />contract with the Henry County Public Service Authority entered into in January of <br /> <br />1974, certain terms of which are now in dispute; and (2) litigation of an action <br /> <br />instituted against the City and its Police Department (and certain members thereof) <br /> <br />by Mr. Roy Lynwood Hairston, Jr. <br /> <br />Upon reconvening into regular session, and upon motion (duly seconded and unanimously <br /> <br />~arried), Council continued to its forthcoming September 23rd meeting further <br /> <br />consideration of the first-named item hereinabove and took no action on action on <br /> <br />the second-named item. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />., -; . t"'r"' <br /> <br />W.
