Cole, Greene, and Reed; and Noes: Messrs. Oakes and West, with <br /> <br />Mr. Oakes noting that his previously-expressed opposition to the program was pending <br /> <br />the receipt of policy guidelines, and with Mr. West reiterating his opposition for <br /> <br />reasons stated heretofore. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 2.1-344(1) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), <br /> <br />and upon motion, duly seconded and by a recorded unanimous vote, Council convened <br /> <br />into an Executive Session to consider a personnel matter, viz., to consider the <br /> <br />naming of a City representative-member to the Board of Directors of the Piedmont <br /> <br />Seniors of Virginia to suceed Mr. Curtis F. Bouldin, resigned. Upon completing this <br /> <br />session, Council reconvened into regular session, with no action being taken and <br /> <br />continuing this matter to its next regular meeting. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Edmonds, Council adopted--for various City usages-- <br /> <br />a new and standardized logo developed by Mr. Joseph ("Buddy") Coleman, a local commercial <br /> <br />artist. <br /> <br />Also, upon recommendation of City Manager Edmonds, Council authorized the proceeding <br /> <br />with the preparation of an appropriate display in City Hall of photographs of the <br /> <br />thirt~en mayors who served the City since 1941 as well as some memorabilia of the <br /> <br />seventeen mayors who served the City during the period 1885-l94l. <br /> <br />Council was apprised of the recent appointments, by The Honorable Frank I. Richardson, <br /> <br />Jr., Judge of the 21st Judicial Circuit Court, of Messrs. William D. Hobson (former <br /> <br />Mayor and Councilman), Joe S. McFaddin, and Robert E. ("Ed") Saville to constitute <br /> <br />the City's 1981 Board of Equalization. <br />
