There being no other nominations, <br /> <br />Mr. Clift called for the votes, which were as follows: <br /> <br />for Councilman Cole - Mayor Greene and Councilmen Reed and Cole; and <br /> <br />for Councilman Oakes - Councilmen West and Oakes. <br /> <br />Councilman Cole was declared Vice Mayor for the aforesaid term, subscribing to <br /> <br />the required oath of office, as administered by Mr. Clift. <br /> <br />Mr. Clift then administered the required oath of office to Mr. Don R. Edmonds, <br /> <br />as Martinsville's City Manager, succeeding Mr. Thomas B. Noland (who retired <br /> <br />June 30, 1980), for an indefinite term beginning July 1, 1980, as well as the <br /> <br />required oath of office to Mr. Terry L. Roop, as Acting Police Chief for an <br /> <br />indefinite term beginning July 1, 1980, having been recently appointed by former <br /> <br />City Manager Noland to this position to replace Mr. Frank A.
