<br />f-- {--" <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 10, 1980 <br /> <br />provisions, secure and file with the City's Finance Director <br />a liability insurance policy or policies indemnifying such <br />person or organization in the sum of $100,000 for injury to <br />one person and $300,000 for injury to more than one person <br />for the same accident for which the owner, operator or driver <br />of such vehicle may be held liable, and $5,000 for property damage. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that an emergency exists and that this ordinance <br />shall be effective on and after June 10, 1980. <br /> <br />Ms. June Gay, Executive Director of The Piedmont Seniors of Virginia, Inc., presented <br /> <br />to Council a status report on the current three-year plan or program for the Area <br /> <br />Agency on Aging, following which presentation Mr. Stephen Randy Powell, Coordinator <br /> <br />of the Martinsville-Henry County Winterization Program, presented a status report <br /> <br />on that agency's activities. In connection with the report on the Area Agency <br /> <br />on Aging, Mr. Robert N. Crockett (of 1007 Mountain Road) advocated the operation <br /> <br />and sponsorship by the City of a Senior Citizens program for Martinsville's senior <br /> <br />citizens only. Mr. Crockett also stated that numbers of senior citizens, financially <br /> <br />able to provide their own needs, are taking advantage of the meals program offered <br /> <br />by the Area Agency on Aging. Mr. Herbert Berlin (of 22 Gravely Street) protested <br /> <br />the operating of the Senior Citizens center at its present location, which abuts <br /> <br />Mr. Berlin's property, meanwhile suggesting that a new center for the Senior Citizens <br /> <br />be constructed or provided elsewhere, perhaps near the Henry County Administration <br /> <br />Building on Kings Mountain Road. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted the following <br /> <br />report and recommendation(s) of the Select Citizens Committee's Finance Subcommittee <br /> <br />for the City's proposed Ridgeway Hydro-Electric Project, as presented by Mr. George B. <br /> <br />Adams, Jr., General Chairman; and, in so doing, Council selected the combine of <br />
