Council informed Mr. Lawrence that this amount is now <br /> <br />included in the City's proposed 1980-81 budget; however, upon being informed by <br /> <br />Mr. Lawrence that the cost of the proposed produce display tables, which the <br /> <br />Market Association has agreed to underwrite, could not be forthcoming except on <br /> <br />a "piece-meal" basis over a period of time and would require the City's financing <br /> <br />(at an estimated cost of $5,000.00) initially, Council took no action toward <br /> <br />including this additional amount in the 1980-81 City Budget. <br /> <br />Council placed on first reading an ordinance, prepared by City Attorney Worthy <br /> <br />upon the recent recommendations of Police Chief Frank A. Gard, Sr., and the <br /> <br />Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission, which would regulate the vending <br /> <br />of ice cream and related ice products from--and by--motor vehicles on City <br /> <br />residential streets. <br /> <br />Council took no action, pending receipt of administrative details and procedures, <br /> <br />on a $600,000.00 Federal grant agreement to finance the rehabilitation of forty <br /> <br />sub-standard residences in two areas of the City. <br /> <br />With Councilman West voting "No", for reasons he has previously cited, and with <br />
