'. .....,.. ~~ <br /> <br />"; Ii j <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 27, 1980 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Council adopted the following ordinance reflecting the Planning Commission's <br /> <br />recommendations and amending the City's Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, in regular meeting assembled this twenty-seventh <br />day of May, 1980, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to effect a "C-3 <br />Commercial" zoning of the following property: <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />Beginning with the intersection of Commonwealth <br />Boulevard and the extension of a line projecting <br />Morgan Street southeasterly to said Commonwealth <br />Boulevard, thence southwesterly for approximately <br />500 feet along the north right-of-way line of <br />Commonwealth Boulevard to existing "M-2" zoned <br />property; thence westerly for approximately 300 <br />feet along the boundary of existing "M-2" zoned <br />property to existing "P_2" zoned property; thence <br />approximately lOa feet in a northerly direction to <br />a 30-foot street space; thence northeast for <br />approximately 750 feet, adjacent to existing "R-9" <br />zoned property, to Morgan Street; thence southeasterly <br />along projection of Morgan Street to point of beginning. <br /> <br />In response to invitation by Council, Mr. R. L. Fisher, Insurance Consultant, <br /> <br />of Industrial Insurance Management Corporation (the City's insurance consultants), <br /> <br />appeared before Council and presented to Council a comparative analysis of the City's <br /> <br />options in providing required Worker's Compensation insurance, including the <br /> <br />proposed Virginia Municipal League-sponsored "pooling" proposal, with Mr. Fisher <br /> <br />recommending that the City participate in said VML "pool", effective July 1, 1980, <br /> <br />because of the good probability that this course will result in considerable <br /> <br />insurance premium savings to the City. Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br /> <br />carried, Council unanimously accepted Mr. Fisher's recommendation and authorized <br /> <br />the participation by the City in the VML Worker's Compensation insurance "pool", <br /> <br />effective July 1, 1980, with the understanding that coverage afforded through the <br />
