<br />(-' r'"'" ') <br />t . ,_.7 I--..i <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />APRIL 22, 1980 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, April 22, 1980, in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., <br /> <br />William D. Hobson, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; <br /> <br />L. D. Oakes; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its special <br /> <br />meeting held April 7, 1980, and of its regular meeting held April 8, 1980. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the <br /> <br />Planning Commission's recommendation that Sections V and X of the City's Zoning <br /> <br />Ordinance be amended to effect the following changes and/or revisions: <br /> <br />Section V - District Use Regulations <br />Page 294, Paragraph E. delete Item 7. <br />Page 295, Paragraph F, delete Item 10. <br /> <br />Section X - Signs <br />Page 320, Paragraph D, Item 1 - add "RP-I". <br />Also add new Item l-a. and reletter a to b, b to c, c to d: <br /> <br />l-a. "Signs in the P-l Professional District, P-2 Professional <br />District and RP-l Residential-Professional District shall not <br />exceed one (1) square foot of sign area per one (1) lineal <br />foot of building frontage. Signs shall be located at the <br />building front, attached thereto or in line with the building; <br />or, back of the front yard or setback line, whichever would <br />allow the sign closer to the street." <br /> <br />There being no objections to these recommended changes, Council adopted (by reference) <br /> <br />an ordinance effecting these changes. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on proposed amendments to the City's Flood Plain Ordinance and (on) the proposed <br /> <br />adoption of updated Flood Plain Maps, as recommended by the Planning Commission. <br />
