(-' r'"'" ') t . ,_.7 I--..i TUESDAY APRIL 22, 1980 The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, April 22, 1980, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William D. Hobson, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; L. D. Oakes; and Francis T. West. After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its special meeting held April 7, 1980, and of its regular meeting held April 8, 1980. Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on the Planning Commission's recommendation that Sections V and X of the City's Zoning Ordinance be amended to effect the following changes and/or revisions: Section V - District Use Regulations Page 294, Paragraph E. delete Item 7. Page 295, Paragraph F, delete Item 10. Section X - Signs Page 320, Paragraph D, Item 1 - add "RP-I". Also add new Item l-a. and reletter a to b, b to c, c to d: l-a. "Signs in the P-l Professional District, P-2 Professional District and RP-l Residential-Professional District shall not exceed one (1) square foot of sign area per one (1) lineal foot of building frontage. Signs shall be located at the building front, attached thereto or in line with the building; or, back of the front yard or setback line, whichever would allow the sign closer to the street." There being no objections to these recommended changes, Council adopted (by reference) an ordinance effecting these changes. Also, pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on proposed amendments to the City's Flood Plain Ordinance and (on) the proposed adoption of updated Flood Plain Maps, as recommended by the Planning Commission.
