(--, I <br /> <br />t1, i <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />DECEMBER 11, 1979 <br /> <br />at its forthcoming December 17th meeting, for a similar system for Henry County, with the <br /> <br />financing of the City's system (i.e., whether to lease or purchase) yet to be determined. <br /> <br />In connection with the authorization given by Council, at its meeting held September 20, <br /> <br />1979, to the City School Board to place an order for a specially-designed bus to transport <br /> <br />handicapped students, the cost of which to be included in the 1980-81 budget, Dr. James E. <br /> <br />Calkins, School Superintendent, informed Council that delivery of such a bus can be <br /> <br />expected within eight-to-ten weeks at a cost of $16,543.00; whereupon motion, duly <br /> <br />seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the purchase of such a bus during the <br /> <br />current year and appropriated said sum from Revenue-Sharing funds. <br /> <br />Dr. Calkins also informed Council that up-dated teacher-student ratios would be a part of <br /> <br />the School Board's budget presentation for 1980-81. <br /> <br />By a recorded and unanimous vote, Council appropriated (from its General Fund Emergency <br /> <br />Account) the sum of (up to) $7,000.00 and appropriated a like amount to reflect a donation <br /> <br />(of up to $7,000.00) anticipated from the Martinsville Volunteer Fire Company for the purpose <br /> <br />of purchasing flame-resistant "turn-out gear" for members of both the City's Fire Department <br /> <br />and the Volunteer Fire Company, pursuant to the Volunteer Fire Company's written request dated <br /> <br />November 20, 1979. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the issuance (and/or <br /> <br />renewals) of Bingo Permits, for the calendar year 1980, to the following organizations: <br /> <br />Patrick Henry Lodge 1182, Knights of Pythias; <br />Woodmen of the World, Camp 1148; <br />Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 111752; <br />Hartinsville Volunteer Fire Company; and <br />Knights of Columbus, Father O'Kane Council 116538. <br />
