{-..., .{~

f.. "

TUESDAY

JULY 24, 1979

'-

capacity at the City's existing hydro-electric plant. Upon recommendation of the City's

administrative staff, Council accepted the (low) bid of Chas. T. Main of Virginia, Inc.

Meanwhile, City Manager Noland informed Council that an application for Federal grant assistance

for this study has been rejected.

Council acknowledged receipt of a check in the amount of $6,627.0S from the owners of certain

properties within the first block of Broad Street, as said owners' share of the cost of making

-,

certain street improvements within said block, in accordance with the CBD plan, which amount

Council unanimously appropriated to the Public Works Department's street construction section's

CBD project.

City Manager Noland reported that malfunctioning equipment owned by the Henry County Public

Service Authority at Bassett-Walker's plant opposite or near the City's sewage treatment (water

pollution control) plant apparently is the source of the very objectionable odors being noted

by residents in the Forest Park-Druid Hills areas and that, hopefully, this condition will soon

be corrected.

Council concurred with Vice-Mayor Cole's suggestions that (I) Mr. Robert I. Corekin, Director

of the City's Electric Department, supplement R. W. Beck & Associates' monthly evaluation report

on Phase IIA of the proposed Ridgeway Hydro-Electric Project with Mr. Corekin's written comments,

and (2) the Clerk of Council, in publishing required public hearing notices (for Council), use

the "display" advertising method in conjunction with or in lieu of the legal notice method.

Council acknowledged a status report by City Manager Noland on the status of current energy

conservation efforts as well as an inquiry from Mr. D. B. McCullough, 712 Parkview Avenue,

concerning the States' licensing requirements for consulting engineers.

Council was adjourned.

W. H. -Y~~b: Cle;k of Council
