<br />rn <br />~~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 27, 1979 <br /> <br />..... <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, March 27, 1979, in the Council <br /> <br />Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William D. <br /> <br />Hobson, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; L. D. Oakes; and <br /> <br />Francis T. West. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />held March 13, 1979. <br /> <br />On behalf of the Virginia Parks & Recreation Society, Mayor Hobson and the Council <br /> <br />presented awards--in appreciation and recognition of outstanding service to the community <br /> <br />in local recreational programs--to the Martinsville-Henry County Oil Heat Dealers <br /> <br />Association, (accepted by Mr. Wayne McKinney), and to Messrs. John D. Hodges and <br /> <br />O. Randolph Minter, individually. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of the Planning Commission, Council placed on first reading--and <br /> <br />directed the holding of a duly-advertised public hearing thereon (at Council's forthcoming <br /> <br />April 24th meeting)--a proposed ordinance to amend the set-back requirements now set forth <br /> <br />----- <br /> <br />in subparagraph 4 of paragraph C of Section VI of the City's Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Council's March 13th request, the Planning Commission reported that it will <br /> <br />meet jointly with Council at Council's forthcoming April 10th meeting to conduct a joint <br /> <br />public hearing on the West Martinsville Jaycees' recently-filed Application for a Special- <br /> <br />Use Permit which, if approved, will allow this organization to sponsor the Hoxie Brothers <br />
