C) -)
; ~(

TUESDAY

MARCH 13, 1979

Council referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and recommendation,

an Application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed by the West Martinsville Jaycees,

which Permit--if granted--would enable this organization to sponsor the Hoxie Brothers

Circus at Liberty Heights Fairgrounds on May 10, 1979. In its referral, and because

of the time element involved, Council requested that the Planning Commission conduct

jointly with Council, at a regular Council meeting, the required public hearing(s) in

order to expedite the processing of this application.

Council also referred to the Planning Commission, for its consideration and

recommendation, an Application for a Special-Use Permit, as filed by the Martinsville

Volunteer Fire Company, which Permit, if granted, would enable said Volunteer Fire

Company to conduct its 1979 Annual Bazaar at Liberty Heights Fairgrounds during the

period June 29, 1979-July 7, 1979.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council reappointed Mrs. James W.

(Elizabeth H.) Severt as a citizen-member (from Martinsville) to the Board of

Commissioners of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission for a three-year term

ending March 31, 1982.

Council acknowledged a status report on a "rat problem" existing--or which has existed--

on Meadowview Lane.

Upon motion, duly seconded, and by a recorded vote (which was unanimous), Council convened

into an Executive Session to consider a personnel matter, pursuant to Section 2.1-344 of

the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), following which Executive Session Council

resumed its regular session, announcing that no action is required on the matter

considered.

Council was adjourned.

W.
