<br />f:." <br /> <br />f..., <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 13, 1979 <br /> <br />,"- <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with <br /> <br />Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, March 13, 1979, in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William D. Hobson, Mayor; <br /> <br />William C. Cole, Jr., Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; L. D. Oakes; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting <br /> <br />_. <br /> <br />held February 27, 1979. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council amended portions of Section <br /> <br />5-7.4 of the City's Employee Manual, previously placed on first reading, to correct a <br /> <br />typographical error in that portion entitled, "Use of Leave", and to revise Subsection (a) <br /> <br />thereof to read as follows: <br /> <br />Personal illness or physical incapacity, other than that incurred <br />in line of duty, sufficient to prevent reasonable performance of <br />duty. In order to use credited sick leave, the employee may be <br />required to be under the care of a licensed physician and furnish <br />to his Supervisor or Department Head a certificate from such <br />physician stating the time the employee was, or is, unable to work <br />and stating the nature of the sickness or illness. <br /> <br />Pursuant to City Manager Noland's memorandum (to Council) dated March 9, 1979, Council <br /> <br />unanimously authorized the proceeding immediately with the contracting with a qualified <br /> <br />firm (at an estimated cost of $2,500.00) to prepare aerial photographs of the City's <br /> <br />proposed hydro-electric ("Ridgeway") site area necessary to the preparation of accurate <br /> <br />topographic maps (of the area) which, in turn, would be an integral necessity to the <br /> <br />proceeding with "Phase II" studies of the project, should Council so decide to proceed. <br /> <br />Meanwhile, Council scheduled a special meeting of the Council for Tuesday, March 27, 1979, <br /> <br />in the Council Chamber, beginning at 3:00 P.M., to receive and consider reports from the <br />
