<br />I <br />h. .~ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 27, 1979 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Councilman Greene informed Council that several inquiries and/or complaints have <br /> <br />been received as to the contracting by the City--rather than being purchased and <br /> <br />owned by the City--for "warning" signs now being furnished by AZCO Rental. <br /> <br />In response to an inquiry from City Manager Noland, Council authorized the usage <br /> <br />of a 7%-cost-of-living factor to be applied to City personnel salaries and wages in <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />the preparation of the City ~~nager's proposed City Budget for the fiscal year <br /> <br />ending June 30, 1980, with Councilman West (who introduced the authorizing motion) <br /> <br />noting that the adoption of said motion carries or implies no intent on the part of <br /> <br />Council to increase local' property taxes for the 1979-80 fiscal year. <br /> <br />In acknowledging receipt of the annual report of the r1artinsville Volunteer Fire <br /> <br />Company, Council commended this organization and its members for its continuing and <br /> <br />outstanding service to the City, <br /> <br />City Hanager Noland informed Council that on February 27, 1979, he completed (in <br /> <br />Richmond, Virginia) the execution of some 2,600 bonds sold by Martinsville-Henry <br /> <br />County Memorial Hospital through the Industrial Development Authority to finance the <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />construction of major improvements and additions to the local hospital. <br /> <br />Coucnil wad adjourned. <br /> <br />...... <br /> <br />~ <br />W.
