Brown pointed out) <br /> <br />for the City to serve the proposed Frith development. The record notes, nevertheless~ <br /> <br />that Councilman Oakes abstained from Voting on this matter, indicating a preference <br /> <br />to delay voting on this matter because of his concern about the PSA's expressed <br /> <br />interest in serving this area and in order to provide time to resolve any problems <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />which might develop from this expressed interest. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council adopted the following <br /> <br />ordinance amending paragraph 12 of Chapter II of the City's Business License Tax <br /> <br />Ordinance~ effective December 15~ 1978: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville~ Virginia~ in <br />regular meeting held November 28, 1978, that numbered paragraph 12 under <br />Chapter II of the 1970 License Tax Ordinance of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia~ be and is hereby amended by deleting therefrom the words '$750.00 <br />a year" and substituting therefor the words "$3,000.00 a year". <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that this ordinance and amendment shall <br />be effective on and after December 15~ 1978. <br /> <br />After receiving a report on the policies and procedures, with special reference to <br /> <br />Sections 6-24 and 6-26 of the City Code, governing the purchasing of materials and <br /> <br />supplies and/or equipment for the City~ Council expressed its intention to explore <br /> <br />the City's central warehousing practices at its next regular meeting in light of <br /> <br />some criticism thereof included in the City's audit report for the year ending <br /> <br />June 30~ 1978. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Attorney Worthy~ Council deferred any action toward <br /> <br />acquiring any properties within the City (on which real estate taxes are delinquent) <br /> <br />until early 1979. <br />
