<br />1'"'"4 <br />.-. t <br />;....JI _ <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 14, 1978 <br /> <br />American Furniture Company~ with said construction to be undertaken by the City as <br /> <br />soom as it can schedule same. <br /> <br />Council referred to the Planning Commission~ for its review as to "land use and <br /> <br />restrictions"~ a request for domestic water service and fire protection to serve a new <br /> <br />building which Frith Construction Company, applicant~ proposes to construct within the <br /> <br />City's Industrial Park area. <br /> <br />Council also referred to the Planning Commission, for its review (in light of applicant's <br /> <br />proposal to construct a four-unit apartment building in the Woodland Heights Subdivision~ <br /> <br />an area presently consisting of single-family residences) an application for water service, <br /> <br />as filed by Mr. Jimmie R. Ford. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of the sum of $6~062.l0~ from the State Health Department, as <br /> <br />the City's share of un-used funds for the operation of the regional health department during <br /> <br />1977-78. <br /> <br />Council unanimously authorized City Attorney Worthy to file a response~ on behalf of the City, <br /> <br />in the case recently instituted by Virginia National BankShares to recover a certain amount of <br /> <br />bank stock tax assessed against the Virginia National Bank, Martinsville, <br /> <br />Pursuant to legislation enacted by the 1978 Session of the Virginia General Assembly, Council <br /> <br />authorized the preparation, for Council's consideration and/or action, of an ordinance <br /> <br />amending the City's Bank Stock Tax Ordinance~ whereby eighty per cent (80%) of the tax imposed <br /> <br />and collected by the City thereunder can be retained by the City~ rather than the forty per cent <br /> <br />(40%) heretofore permitted. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />( ,_'3--~, >(. ,. <br />W.
