<br />October 9, 2006 <br /> <br />that affirmative action was considered in all aspects of the project. L. D. <br /> <br />Oakes, 1713 Mulberry Road, made comments on behalf of the Martinsville <br /> <br />Recreation Association and the Bulldog Boosters Club in support of the project <br /> <br />and thanked the Harvest Foundation for supporting this project. Barry Nelson, <br /> <br />Henry County resident, made comments in support of the project, but would <br /> <br />like for baseball to be considered in future plans indicating except for Hooker <br /> <br />Field, there are no lighted baseball fields in the area. Hearing no further <br /> <br />comments, the joint public hearing was closed. <br /> <br />The following Concurrent Resolution was adopted 5-1 by the Henry <br /> <br />County Board of Supervisors. Council Member Anderson moved to adopt the <br /> <br />Concurrent Resolution as presented; the motion was duly seconded and <br /> <br />carried by the following vote, with all members voting: Vote 4-0. Yeas (4) _ <br /> <br />Reynolds, Clark, Anderson, Lawson. Nays (0) - None. Absent (1) - Ferrill. <br /> <br />CONCURRENT RESOLUTION <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE <br />AND THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF HENRY COUNTY <br />CREATING AND ADOPTING ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION FOR <br />THE SOUTHERN VIRGINIA RECREATION FACILITIES AUTHORITY <br /> <br />Whereas, the City Council and the Board of Supervisors have published a notice pursuant to the Public <br />Recreational Facilities Act, Chapter 56 of Title 15.2 (Sections 15.2-5600 through 15.2-5616 of the Code <br />of Virginia)("the Act") of their intent to create and adopt proposed articles of incorporation for a body <br />politic and corporate to be known as the Southern Virginia Recreation Facilities Authority; and <br /> <br />Whereas, a joint public hearing has been conducted by the two bodies at the time and place specified in <br />such notice; and <br /> <br />Whereas, the City Council and Board of Supervisors find it to be in the public interest that the Southern <br />Virginia Recreation Facilities Authority be established to exercise the powers and carry out the <br />responsibilities set forth in the Act, for the benefit of the citizens of MartinsviIIe and Henry County; now, <br />therefore, it is <br /> <br />CONCURRENTLY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE <br />AND THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF HENRY COUNTY, <br />
