<br />..-" <br /> <br />, , <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MARCH 28, 1978 <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with <br /> <br />Mayor William D. Hobson presiding, was held Tuesday, March 28, 1978, in the Council Chamber, <br /> <br />City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., with all members--with the exception of Councilman L. D. Oakes, <br /> <br />who was away from the City--being present, viz., William D. Hobson, Mayor; William C. Cole, Jr., <br /> <br />Vice Mayor; Barry A. Greene; and Francis T. West. <br /> <br />After the invocation, Council approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held <br /> <br />March 14, 1978. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Nationwide <br /> <br />Homes' request--carrying the Planning Commission's recommendation that same be granted--seeking <br /> <br />the rezoning from "R-6 Residential" to "M-3 Industrial" of petitioner's property, consisting of <br /> <br />three tracts of land with a total of 7.90 acres, situated on the east side of Smith Lake Road, <br /> <br />adjacent to petitioner's property already so zoned. There being no objections registered to <br /> <br />this request and proposal, Council unanimously granted said request by adoption of the following <br /> <br />ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsvil1e, Virginia, in <br />regular meeting assembled this twenty-eighth day of March, 1978, that the <br />Zoning Map of the City of Martinsvi1le, Virginia, be--and is hereby-- <br />amended to effect and reflect an "M-3 Industrial" zoning of that property <br />owned by Nationwide Homes, Inc., identified as Plot A, Plot B, and Plot C <br />and consisting of a total of approximately 7.90 acres of land, situated <br />along the east side of Smith Lake Road, off Forest Street and northwest <br />of Rives Road Extension along the right-of-way of the Norfolk & Western <br />Railway Company, being adjacent to Nationwide Homes' property currently <br />zoned "M-3 Industrial". <br /> <br />Also pursuant to duly-advertised public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Graves <br /> <br />Supply Company's request--carrying the Planning Commission's recommendation that same be granted-- <br /> <br />seeking the rezoning from "R-6 Residential" to "M-1 Industrial" of petitioner's two lots (identified <br />
