TUESDAY DECEMBER 14, 1982 amendment, to add a new Section 2 to Chapter 4, of the City Charter in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A and requests that the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia amend the existing City Charter in accordance therewith; 2. That two certified copies of this Resolution, the publisher's affidavit of publication of the notice of the public hearing on the proposed amendment to Chapter 4 of the City Charter and the proposed amendment to the City Charter, in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, shall be transmitted to the City's representatives in the General Assembly; and 3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately. PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 4 OF MARTINSVILLE CITY CHARTER Chapter 4 - COURTS Sec. 2. Municipal Courts: fines; salary of District Court Judges There shall be established in the City of Martinsville a General District Court and a Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court. The District Courts shall have such jurisdiction and powers as shall be set by State law. All fines collected for violations of City ordinances shall be paid promptly to the Treasurer of the City. The City may pay to any Judge of a District Court that serves the City of Martinsville, when such Judge resides within the City, a salary of not less than four hundred fifty dollars ($450) per year, to be fixed by the Council, provided, however, that in no case shall the salary paid to any District Court Judge exceed ninety per centum (90%) of the salary paid to the highest paid Circuit Court Judge under the provisions of Section 1 of this chapter.
