u

TUESDAY

SEPTEMBER 14, 1982

Industrial Development Authority for four-year terms beginning September 26, 1982.

This meeting was then declared adjourned.

, Clerk of Council

ADDENDUM

(Excerpts from Mayor Cole's August 7th response to City Manager Edmonds' July 26th
report on policy and practices pertaining to construction of sidewalks and/or curb-
and-gutter, in which Mayor Cole offered the following suggestions and on which Mayor
Cole asked for discussion by Council ". . . long before budget time"):

1. That the future policy of the City will be to absorb all costs
involving construction of sidewalks and curbs-and-gutters;

2. That we survey the entire City and identify all streets that do
not have these facilities;

3. That we establish priorities for construction;

4. That we budget specifically for curb-and-gutter and for sidewalk
construction; (and)

5. In establishing priorities, those streets that wish to retain the
"country-lane" appearance should certainly be allowed to do so. By
contrast, there are some streets that we might "save" by installing
curb-and-gutter. A top priority would be to designated routes to
schools that do not have sidewalks.
