<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />AUGUST 24, 1982 <br /> <br />-, <br /> <br />f. All refuse containers shall be kept tightly covered at all <br />times except when momentarily open to receive refuse or be <br />emptied. <br /> <br />g. No refuse shall be kept in containers which have become so <br />worn as to prevent tight closure of covers or the complete <br />concealment of liquid wastes. <br /> <br />h. Ashes shall be stored in metal containers having a maximum <br />capacity of twenty gallons and be kept separate from <br />garbage and rubbish. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-10 <br /> <br />Collection of refuse; curbside pick-up. <br /> <br />All refuse shall be collected by the city at regular intervals no <br />less frequently than once per week. It shall be the duty of <br />every owner, lessee, or occupant having one or more large volume <br />dumpsters to see that such dumpsters are accessible for emptying. <br />It shall be the duty of every other owner, lessee, or occupant to <br />place or cause to be placed the refuse can or cans or fully closed <br />and tied plastic garbage bags containing the refuse at the side of <br />the curb line of the premises, at a location accessible to the <br />collection crews, unless such owner, lessee, or occupant has been <br />exempted from the requirement of curbside placement by the Director <br />of Public Works under the provisions of the next section. Bulky <br />rubbish such as paper, cardboard, or wooden boxes may be flattened <br />and tied in bundles with heavy, stout cord with such bundles not <br />to exceed thirty-six inches in length or breadth, twenty inches in <br />height and fifty pounds in weight. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-11 <br /> <br />Exemption from curbside pick-up. <br /> <br />The Director of Public Works may excuse any owner, lessee, or <br />occupant of any residential premises in the city from the duty to <br />place or cause to be placed the refuse at the curb line for col- <br />lection if the Director finds, from the written statement of <br />medical doctors, that such owner, lessee, or occupant is physically <br />or medically unable to place the refuse at the curb line. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-12 <br /> <br />Removal of refuse containers after collection. <br /> <br />After the collection of refuse by the collectors all refuse containers <br />placed at the curb line of the premises shall be returned by the <br />owner, lessee, or occupant to the premises by night of the day of <br />collection and shall there remain until the next day of collection. <br /> <br />Sec. 8-13 <br /> <br />Public refuse receptacles. <br /> <br />For the better appearance and beautification of the city the <br />Director of Public Works may cause to be placed at any location <br />deemed appropriate public refuse receptacles for the deposit of <br />trash, garbage, litter, and rubbish. <br />
