-, ')
) .'.,..J.....

TUESDAY

JULY 13, 1982

City Manager Edmonds also reported that compliance by business firms with the City's

recently-enacted amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, as to screening of outside-

stored materials, has been good, with only one firm (of the thirty identified

initially as not being in compliance) remaining not in compliance and, also, re-

sisting compliance on the basis of interpretation of the current regulations and/or

taking advantage of what might be considered a loop-hole in the regulations.

City Manager Edmonds pointed out that actions taken simultaneously by the Henry

County Board of Supervisors and the City Council during the joint session held

June 30, 1982, with regard to the report and recommendations of the City-County

Merger Study Committee, were similar in intent but did not completely parallel one

another in that Council did not officially designate City Manager Edmonds and City

Attorney Worthy as its representatives on a joint committee, with County

Administrator Lee Lintecum and County Attorney Dale McGhee, to develop a City-County

consolidation agreement. Council concurred in naming Messrs. Edmonds and Worthy

as its representatives on the joint committee.

With Mayor Cole abstaining, other members of Council voted unanimously to

reappoint Mayor Cole to the Board of Commissioners of the West Piedmont Planning

District Commission for a term ending June 30, 1985.

Council acknowledged receipt of Mr. James W. Hare's resignation from the Public

Services Committee of the West Piedmont Planning District Commission, effective

June 30, 1982. Action to name Mr. Hare's successor was postponed.
