<br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />NOVEMBER 10, 1981 <br /> <br />/' <br /> <br />industrial development and promotion of the property. <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />From a status report on the City's current overall water supply situation, Council was <br /> <br />informed that: <br /> <br />1. The water level (below the spillway) of the City's Beaver Creek <br />Reservoir on November lOth was 11 feet and 10 inches, indicating <br />that--with utilization of various emergency water sources and wit.h <br />current voluntary conservation of water by the 2ity's users--the <br />reservoir level seems to have stablized; <br />2. Emergency water supplies continue to be obtained from the Lester <br />Quarry; <br />3. Emergency water from four major lakes has been drained into <br />Beaver Creek; and <br />4. An estimated 300,000-400,000 gallons of water per day may be <br />available from Beaver Creek above the Henry County Landfill site, <br />contingent upon acquisition and installation of a pump and <br />transmission pipe and the construction of a pumping station, plus <br />acquiring necessary right-of-way easements, all at an estimated <br />cost of $16,000.00, with this source to be used for a period of <br />six-to-twelve months to restore and/or stablize the Beaver Creek <br />Reservoir level. <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council authorized the proceeding with <br /> <br />the foregoing "Item 4" project, as recommended by the City administration. <br /> <br />Council continued f0r study and consideration a report (dated November 4, 1981) prepared <br /> <br /> <br />by City Manager Edmonds on the condition of the City's Sewer Bond Fund as related to issues <br /> <br /> <br />of funding interim improvements and (of) expansion of the City's Wastewater (Sewage) <br /> <br /> <br />Treatment Plant. <br /> <br />Council was apprised of a Crime Prevention Seminar, with the City's Police Department as <br />host, to be conducted at the Dutch Inn Motel on December 8, 1981, as well as of a series <br />of regional meetings to be conducted by the Virginia Municipal League during November and <br />December (of 1981) to consider legislation of interest to local governments for <br />presentation to the 1982 Virginia General Assembly. <br /> <br />Upon recommendation of City Manager Edmonds and City Treasurer John W. Bouldin, Jr., <br />prompted by unexpected delays (resulting from a combination of circumstances) in converting <br />property tax records and billing procedures to the City's data processing system, Council <br />unanimously adopted the following resolution which extends from December 5, 1981 to December <br />21, 1981 the due date for payment of 1981-82 property taxes normally due and payable on <br />
