~
*

TUESDAY

OCTOBER 27, 1981

Upon motion, duly seconded and by a recorded and unanimous vote, and pursuant to Section
2.1-344(a) (1) and Section 2.1-344(a) (6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended),

Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes of (1) giving consideration
to the appointing of a citizen to the piedmont Regional Mental Health & Mental Retardation
Services Board (i.e., Chapter 10 Board) to succeed Dr. David G. Glendy, resigned, for an
unexpired term ending June 30, 1983, and (2) giving consideration to filing of an appeal
(already in process) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission against the recent
adverse action of the Commission in denying the City's application for a preliminary
permit for the Gathright Waterpower Project and awarding such a permit to the City of
Covington, Virginia. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action with
regard to appointing a successor to Dr. Glendy but unanimously confirmed the action
already in process with regard to filing an appeal with the Federal Energy Regulatory
Commission on the Gathright Waterpower Project award, as recommended by the firm of
Northcutt Ely, legal counsel to the City on power generation matters.

Council was adjourned.

----

Clerk of Council
