<br />~ <br />* <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />OCTOBER 27, 1981 <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and by a recorded and unanimous vote, and pursuant to Section <br />2.1-344(a) (1) and Section 2.1-344(a) (6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), <br /> <br />Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes of (1) giving consideration <br />to the appointing of a citizen to the piedmont Regional Mental Health & Mental Retardation <br />Services Board (i.e., Chapter 10 Board) to succeed Dr. David G. Glendy, resigned, for an <br />unexpired term ending June 30, 1983, and (2) giving consideration to filing of an appeal <br />(already in process) with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission against the recent <br />adverse action of the Commission in denying the City's application for a preliminary <br />permit for the Gathright Waterpower Project and awarding such a permit to the City of <br />Covington, Virginia. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council took no action with <br />regard to appointing a successor to Dr. Glendy but unanimously confirmed the action <br />already in process with regard to filing an appeal with the Federal Energy Regulatory <br />Commission on the Gathright Waterpower Project award, as recommended by the firm of <br />Northcutt Ely, legal counsel to the City on power generation matters. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />---- <br /> <br /> <br />Clerk of Council <br />
