Request the Henry County Board of Supervisors to reconsider the <br />City's initial request for immediate usage of Reed Creek water, <br />in accordance with Mr. Overman's proposal; <br />4. With Henry County's permission and subject to the State Health <br />Department's requirements, make immediate usage of the Lester <br />Quarry supply; <br />5. Pursue the possibility of drilling new wells at the City's Jones <br />Creek Water Treatment plant; <br />6. Utilize, if possible, a number of small lakes located above the <br />City's Beaver Creek Reservoir; <br />7. Pursue the possibility of utilizing Beaver Creek at a point above <br />the Henry County Landfill site; and <br />8. Utilize, if possible, a number of privately-owned wells within <br />the City's corporate limits. <br /> <br />Meanwhile, through Mayor Greene, Council acknowledged with appreciation the time and <br /> <br />cooperative efforts the Henry County Board of Supervisors, its staff and engineers, <br /> <br />have devoted to the City's emergency water request, noting that the City desires to <br /> <br />continue negotiations with Henry County on this matter but, at the moment, because <br /> <br />it is estimated that acceptance of Henry County's current proposal will require an <br /> <br />increase of 65%-to-80% in the City's present water rates, it is incumbent upon <br /> <br />Council to explore all water source possibilities in order that the City might <br /> <br />supply its water customers at the least cost. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />Council <br />
