<br />c' <br />~) <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JULY 28, 1981 <br /> <br />Pursuant to the recommendation of the Planning Commission, from its meeting <br /> <br />held June 2, 1981, and upon petition of the Tultex Corporation and William <br /> <br />F. Franck, Council directed the vacating of certain alleys leading to Chestnut <br /> <br />and Bridge Streets through its adoption of the following ordinance. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Tultex Corporation, pursuant to the provisions of Section <br />15.1-364 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), has made <br />application for the vacation of certain alleys leading to Chestnut <br />and Bridge Streets, in the City of Martinsville, Virginia, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS the said Tultex Corporation has given the notice thereof <br />required by said Section 15.1-364, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS all of the land proprietors affected by said proposed vacation <br />have been duly notified of same and have consented thereto, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS it does not appear that any inconvenience would result from <br />the vacation of said alleys; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular session held this 28th day of July, 1981, that those three <br />certain alleys leading to Chestnut and Bridge Streets in the City of <br />Martinsville, Virginia, which are located within the interior of the <br />block created by the intersections of Church, Broad, Chestnut, and <br />Bridge Streets, and which are shown as "to b e abandoned" on a certain <br />plat of survey for Tultex Corporation and William F. Franck, as <br />prepared by J. A. Gustin & Associates under date of June 2, 1981, and <br />recently approved by the Planning Commission of the City of Martinsville, <br />and to be recorded contemporaneously with a certified copy of this <br />ordinance, be--and the same hereby are--vacated, abandoned, and <br />discontinued; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that a certified copy of this <br />ordinance shall be recorded in the Clerk's Office of the Circuit Court <br />of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, in accordance with the provisions <br />of said Section 15.1-364. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted a proposal <br /> <br />submitted (under date of June, 1981) by the West Piedmont Planning District <br /> <br />Commission, through its Executive Director, Mr. Mark Henne, to up-date the City's <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan, as recommended by the Planning Commmission by report dated <br /> <br />July 21, 1981. <br />
