<br />~~I) <br />~ ~j <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />MAY 12, 1981 <br /> <br />By letter dated April 30, 1981, the Henry County Board of Supervisors informed <br /> <br />Council that Henry County, because of budgetary and staff constraints, is not <br /> <br />interested in participating with the City in the cost of developing the City's <br /> <br />Beaver Creek Reservoir area for recreational purposes, which proposed development <br /> <br />is encompassed in the recent report prepared by a special study committee. <br /> <br />Counci~nHenryC.Reed informed the Council that, on behalf of Council, he <br /> <br />recently accepted the 1980 Community Development Award*given to the City in <br /> <br />recognition of the City's sponsorship and leadership in the developing and <br /> <br />improving of the City's downtown business area. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted from <br /> <br />Mrs. Daisy Harris Carter Clement a deed conveying to the City that certain <br /> <br />parcel of land located between the existing East line of Dudley Alley and the <br /> <br />proposed East right-of-way line of Dudley Alley, consisting of approximately <br /> <br />1,205 square feet. <br /> <br />Council continued for further consideration proposed amendments (as submitted <br /> <br />by City Manager Edmonds, in collaboration with police Chief Terry Roop) to <br /> <br />Section 11-6 of the City Code, noting that the present Section 11-6, which <br /> <br />regulates the keeping of inoperative motor vehicles on private property, is <br /> <br />not written so as to permit enforceability. <br /> <br />Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried (by a recorded vote), and <br /> <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344(a)(1) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as <br /> <br />amended), Council convened into an Executive Session for the purpose of <br /> <br />considering the appointing and/or reappointing of citizens to several Boards <br /> <br />= = = = = = = = = ADDENDUM = = = = = = = = = <br />* Annual Improvement Award by V~rtinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce <br />
