S. Corps of Engineers' Gathright

Dam situated on the Jackson River twelve miles north of Covington, Virginia,

indicating that the City's application, being the first filed, has first

priority for a project which has the potential for 15,000 ~~ capacity and

39,500,000 KWHs annually. In addition, Mr. Dubar reviewed with Council the

status of preliminary permit filings by the Municipal Electric Power

Association of Virginia (for which R. W. E. Cahill:

On Nove~ber 30, 1978 a permit was issued to Frith Construction
Company to remove a building joining my building on Walnut
Street here in Martinsville, Virginia. The said building
belonged to the Stephens Estate with Bob Whitener in charge.
Since he would not do anything about this condemed building,
the city had it removed by Frith Construction Company between
11/30/78 and 12/23/78. In the process of taking this building
down my building was damaged. The parpet block was replaced;
however, the roof was pulled on the back corner causing leaking
through into the upstairs corner room. This caused damage to
the ceiling, two walls, and the entire floor bucked. This caused
damage to the carpet to the point it need replacing. I showed this
damage to Jimmy Jones at the time I discovered it, and it was my
understanding that somecne from the city would contact Mr. Frith and
have the damage repaired by him or his insurance company. I had the
roof temporarily repaired at that time, and a contractor gave me an
estimate to complete the damage, which amounted to $1,675.00.

Enclosed is estimate.
