<br />16 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />FEBRUARY 10, 1981 <br /> <br />City Manager Edmonds informed Council of the general status of the implementation of the <br /> <br />City's new data processing system, noting that at Council's forthcoming February 24th meeting <br /> <br />a full report will be presented, along with his recommendations as to whether the City should <br /> <br />cancel the remainder of its contract with Cogebec Information, Inc., of Montreal, Canada, <br /> <br />and seek to negotiate a contract with another vendor for the necessary software programs. <br /> <br />In connection with this matter, Councilman Reed asked that the forthcoming report include an <br /> <br />analysis of the City's present in-house personnel responsible for the operation of the system. <br /> <br />City Manager Edmonds informed Council that the Henry County Public Service Authority has agreed <br /> <br />to allow the City usage of the Authority's Koehler treatment plant on an emergency basis, for <br /> <br />which appreciation was expressed by Council. <br /> <br />In response to a suggestion by Vice-Mayor Cole, letters of appreciation will be forwarded (if <br /> <br />not already forwarded) to local industries for their cooperation in the City's current UDAG <br /> <br />project, particularly for their carrying out their commitment (made a part of the UDAG project <br /> <br />grant) to invest a total of some $20,000,000.00 for industrial expansion in the City. <br /> <br />Mr. Leon Globman, President of Globman's, appeared before Council and commented on certain <br /> <br />legislation now before the 1981 Virginia General Assembly and the effects thereof, if enacted, <br /> <br />upon local municipal finances. <br /> <br />Council was adjourned. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />w. :'.~e;k <br /> <br />of Council <br />
