.14 ~

JULY 25, 1983

MONDAY

-.

4. Authorized final payment(s) to all consultants associated with
the project, in accordance with existing agreements.

Before adjourning this meeting, Mayor Cole informed Council that Mr. James W. Wagoner, Jr.,

Chairman of the Henry County Board of Supervisors, could not attend this meeting because of

a scheduled meeting of the Supervisors being conducted at the same time, with Mr. Wagoner

noting (by letter dated July 19, 1983) that the Ridgeway Project "...had the potential to

benefit our communities...." and that "It is regrettable that, due to economic conditions

and electric power utilization, it does not appear that this project will be feasible at

this time." Too, Mayor Cole expressed special recognition of, and appreciation to, the

following persons for their interest and assistance during the course of the project:

1. Mr. William D. Hobson, former Mayor;

2. Mr. Barry A. Greene, former Mayor;

3. Mr. Thomas B. Noland, former City Manager;

4. Mr. Robert I. Corekin, Director of the Electric Department,
who was especially commended for his knowledge, initiative
and vision;

5. Members of the Select Citizens Advisory Committee, and
particularly its Chairman, Mr. George B. Adams, Jr., those
members being (in addition to Mr. Adams):

Edgar L. Belcher, Joseph R. Cobbe, Bruce Dallas,
Benjamin F. Gray, Aaron D. Harrell, R. Stephens
Pannill and his successor, J. Thomas Vaughan,
John D. Richmond, Fred L. Schuermann, J.B. Travis,
and Robert A. Williams;

6. Mr. Walter W. Craigie, Jr., of Wheat First Securities;

7. Mr. George V. Nielsen, of R. W. Beck & Associates; and

8. Mr. Don R. Edmonds, City Manager, with a special
commendation for his studies, timely reports and succinct
analyses during the course of the project.

-

Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned.

J Ym.. /k
, ~vi' ,n "
w.
