'.:i <br /> <br />JUNE 28, 1983 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />Construction charges now being made by the City's Electric Department pursuant to <br /> <br />adopted Terms and Conditions of (City) Electric Service, Council unanimously accepted <br /> <br />said report and authorized the preparation of an ordinance to amend the respective <br /> <br />terms and conditions in accordance with Mr. Edmonds' recommendations. <br /> <br />Council unanimously endorsed and adopted a policy governing the City's fixed asset <br /> <br />accounting procedures, as recommended by the City's auditor and by City Manager <br /> <br />Edmonds. <br /> <br />City Manager Edmonds reported receipt by the City of the State Compensation Board's <br /> <br />action with regard to the City Sheriff's 1983-84 budget requests, the effect of which <br /> <br />will result in some slight reduction in the City's net cost from that initially pro- <br /> <br />jected--and in some adjustments--in the City's 1983-84 budget. <br /> <br />Council acknowledged receipt of a letter (dated June 24, 1983) from Mr. J. T. <br /> <br />Shropshire, Chairman of the State Compensation Board, acknowledging Council's recently- <br /> <br />filed objection to the Board's 1983-84 allowance for office expenses of the City's <br /> <br />Commonwealth Attorney and reporting that the City will soon be advised of the time and <br /> <br />dates available for an appeal hearing on this matter, as provided by law. <br /> <br />Vice-Mayor Oakes notified Council that he will be attending a meeting of the Virginia <br /> <br />Municipal League's Legislative Committee (of which he is a member) on June 30th. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Sections 2.1-344(a)(1) and 2.1-344(a)(6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and <br /> <br />as amended), and upon motion--duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote-- <br /> <br />Council convened into an Executive Session for the following purposes: <br />
