Fitts, Finance Director-- <br /> <br />receipt of Mr. Fitts' report on the condition of the City's finances through a budgetary <br /> <br />report for the first nine months of the City's current fiscal year. Council received, <br /> <br />too, amended 1983-84 budget sheets to replace their counterparts made a part of City <br /> <br />Manager Edmonds' recommended budget. <br /> <br />After considering a list of nominees submitted by other agencies for membership on the <br /> <br />Central Piedmont Private Industry Council, in preparation for the implementation of the Job <br /> <br />Training Partnership Act, Council unanimously nominated Mr. Jimmy L. Rosser (Director of <br /> <br />Personnel for American Furniture Company, Inc., Martinsville) and Mr. Richard A. Prillaman <br /> <br />(President of Prillaman & Pace, Inc., Martinsville) for membership on said Private Industry <br /> <br />Council. <br /> <br />Pursuant to Section 2.1-344(a)(1) and Section 2.1-344(a)(6) of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, <br /> <br />and as amended) and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, <br /> <br />Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes of (1) considering nominees for <br /> <br />appointment and/or reappointment to various boards and commissions for terms beginning July <br /> <br />1, 1983, or before, and (2) consulting with legal counsel on potential litigation and legal <br /> <br />matters. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council unanimously appointed Mr. Ricardo <br /> <br />V. Scales, of 817 Hundley Street, to membership on the Martinsville-Henry County Clean <br /> <br />Community Commission for a term ending March 31, 1985. Council then, through Mayor Cole, <br /> <br />made public a listing of members of various City boards and commissions whose terms will <br /> <br />expire on June 30, 1983, with the exception of one present member on the City's Board of <br /> <br />Appeals, whose term expires May 11, 1983.
