<br />JANUARY 25, 1983 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />SECTION 302. Corporate Limits of City. Notwithstanding anything herein <br />to the contrary, this Franchise Ordinance shall apply only within the corporate <br />limits of the City as constituted on the effective date of this ordinance and <br />not to any areas which may subsequently become a part of the City by any annexa- <br />tion proceedings or by merger or consolidation with other governmental bodies. <br /> <br />SECTION 303. Prior Agreements. This Franchise Ordinance supersedes any <br />franchise rights granted to the Company in all prior Franchise Ordinances or <br />similar agreements between the City and the Company. <br /> <br />SECTION 304. Franchise Term. The franchise herein granted shall take <br />effect and be in force from and after the final passage hereof, as required by <br />law, and upon the filing of acceptance by the Company with the office of the <br />Mayor, and shall continue in force and effect for an initial term of ten years <br />from the effective date of this Franchise Ordinance, and it shall be automat- <br />ically renewed for successive terms of five years each unless either party <br />gives the other party written notice of its intention not to renew the franchise <br />at least six months prior to the end of the then current term. This Franchise <br />Ordinance shall be accepted by the Company within sixty (60) days from the date <br />of the passage of the same or the provisions of this Franchise Ordinance shall <br />be null and void. <br />This ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its <br />final passage. <br /> <br />Upon a call for an aye and nay vote, the same stood as follows: <br /> <br />Eliza Severt Aye <br />W. C. Cole, Jr. Aye <br />Henry C. Reed Aye <br />Francis T. West Aye <br />L. D. Oakes Aye <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted for introduction--and for continuation and/or probable <br /> <br />adoption at its forthcoming February 8th meeting--an ordinance (recommended by City <br /> <br />Manager Edmonds) to revise and amend Article II of Chapter 15 of the City Code, as it <br /> <br />pertains to requirements for the numbering of lots and buildings within the City. <br /> <br />In a report from City Manager Edmonds, supplementing his report of July 26, 1982, with <br /> <br />regard to the construction by the City of curb-and--gutter and/or sidewalks, both under <br /> <br />the City's present policy and under a revised policy, if approved, Mr. Edmonds recom- <br /> <br />mended, as follows: <br />
