<br />~68 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />JUNE 26, 1984 <br /> <br />To comply with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency's regulations governing <br /> <br />industrial discharges into the City's sanitary sewer system, Council unanimously <br /> <br />adopted the following ordinance (as introduced at Council's June 12th meeting) which <br /> <br />amends certain sections of Article II and Article III, Appendix B, of the City's Terms <br /> <br />and Conditions of Water and Sewer Service(s): <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular session on June 26, 1984, that Appendix B to the City's <br />Terms and Conditions of Water and Sewer Service be amended as follows: <br /> <br />A. Article II, Sec. 2.1-i shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />i. Any liquid having a temperature greater than 140 <br />degrees Fahrenheit, or which would cause a rise in <br />temperature of greater than 10 degrees Fahrenheit <br />of the total flow in the sanitary sewer interceptor <br />line; or which would have a temperature of 104 de- <br />grees Fahrenheit when the wastewater reaches the <br />treatment facilities. <br /> <br />B. Article III, Sec. 3.1-d shall be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />d. Applications for permits after August 1, 1983, shall <br />be made at least thirty (30) days prior to the pro- <br />posed date of connection to the sewerage system. The <br />applicant shall comply with the provisions of this <br />ordinance including all applicable National Categor- <br />ical Pretreatment Standards within the time frame as <br />set forth in such pretreatment standards. <br /> <br />As an emergency measure, Council unanimously adopted the following ordinance amending <br /> <br />Section 12-140 of the City Code to incorporate all changes made by the 1984 Session of <br /> <br />the Virginia General Assembly as they relate or pertain to motor vehicle operations: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />that the Code of Ordinances of the City of Martinsville be amended <br />so as Section 12-140 shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 12-140. Adoption of amendments and additions to motor <br />vehicle laws by reference. <br /> <br />The term "laws of the state relative to the operation of vehicles" <br />used in section 12.2 and the term "laws of the state relative to <br />driving a motor vehicle, etc., while intoxicated" used in section <br />12-3 shall be defined and interpreted to include all such laws in <br />effect on July 1, 1984. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, this <br />ordinance shall be in force and effect on and after July 1, 1984. <br />
