In tentative acceptance

of this report and recommendation, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing

to be conducted thereon by Council at its forthcoming March 13th meeting.

By report dated February 21, 1984, the Planning Commission recommended that Council deny

a petition (filed with the Commission) seeking the closing and abandonment of a twelve-

foot alleyway extending from the west side of Pine Street in a southwesterly direction

along the rear of properties fronting the northwest side of the 500-block of East Church

Street. The Commission noted that this petition was filed by Mr. David V. Williams,

Attorney at Law, for and on behalf of the following property owners, viz., Mr. Roger

Young, Mrs. Elsie Fishel, Mrs.E. G. Ramsey, Mrs. Virginia M. Clift, and Mr. & Mrs. O. E.

Minter; whereas objections to the proposed abandonment were registered with the Commission

by Mr. John J. A. Sanders (of 308 Starling Avenue), owner of property at 507 East Church

Street, and by Mrs. Hazel S. Nickelston on behalf of the Smith heirs, who own a 2.25 acre-

tract which abuts said alleyway. Council continued consideration of the Planning Com-

mission's recommendation in this matter by calling for a duly-advertised public hearing

thereon to be conducted at Council's forthcoming March 13th meeting. The motion calling

for said public hearing carried by a vote of four-to-one, Councilmember Severt voting

"Nay".

Also, by report dated February 21, 1984, the Planning Commission recommended that Council

approve a petition submitted by W.
