<br />8~) <br />. ...., <br /> <br />MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 1985 <br /> <br />Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to the extent that the cer- <br />tain property identified as Parcel "C", situated between Winston, <br />Lavinder and Maryland Streets and the right-of-way of the Norfolk & <br />Western Railway Company, is hereby rezoned from "C-3 Commercial" to <br />"M-2 Industrial"; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, <br />this ordinance shall be in force on and after December 10, 1985. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on Mr. Michael L. Craig's petition, previously approved by the Planning Commission, <br /> <br />seeking the rezoning of Lot J at 6 Cross Street from "R-6 Residential" to "C-3 Com- <br /> <br />mercial". There being no objecitons to this petition registered by any citizen, <br /> <br />Mayor Cole declared the public hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded and <br /> <br />unanimously carried, Council granted said petition through its acceptance of the <br /> <br />Planning Commission's recommendation thereon and by Council's adoption of the fol- <br /> <br />lowing ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville be--and it is hereby--amended to the extent that Lot J <br />at 6 Cross Street is hereby rezoned from R-6 Residential to C-3 <br />Commercial; and <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, <br />this ordinance shall be in force on and after December 10, 1985. <br /> <br />And, pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing <br /> <br />on Mrs. Dorothy L. Hairston's petition seeking the vacating and abandonment of the <br /> <br />unopened section of Olympia Street from Katherine Street to the corner(s) of Lots <br /> <br />Nos. 85 and 8A. There being no objections registered by any citizen to this peti- <br /> <br />tion, Council unanimously accepted the Planning Commission's recommendations there- <br /> <br />on and effected the requested abandonment through Council's adoption of the fol- <br /> <br />lowing ordinance which includes certain stipulations recommended by the Commission: <br />
