Various educational programs, present and proposed, including the <br />now-being-organized academic team competition among area high <br />schools, initiated by personnel of the City School System. <br /> <br />12. Population chart (for the City School System) for the years 1975-76 <br />projected through 1989-90, plus the distribution by race of students <br />among the various grade levels and schools, plus the distribution of <br />personnel by positions for the years 1977-78 through 1985-86, <br />reflecting some decreases in number of classroom teachers and admin- <br />istrative personnel but an overall increase of 5-plus total in the <br />regular programs, generally as a result of State-required programs <br />added and/or enlarged during the period. <br /> <br />13. The current PARENTS AND TOTS TOGETHER PROGRAM (P.A.T.T.) to prevent <br />educational neglect in the homes and to provide preschool experiences <br />in an effort to help prevent subsequent failures in school. <br /> <br />14. Evaluation procedures for the school system, providing for accredi- <br />tation and administrative reviews. <br /> <br />15. Computer equipment inventory by schools. <br /> <br />16. Motor vehicle inventory and vehicle usage purposes. <br /> <br />17. Evidence of inaccurate financial forecasts made on the State level. <br /> <br />In addition, the School Board requested that, beginning with the next budget year (1986-87), <br /> <br />Council authorize and direct the re-establishing of a separate Textbook Fund which the <br /> <br />Board maintained is a self-supporting venture but requires separation from the regular <br /> <br />School budget. <br /> <br />At the conclusion of this presentation, and before declaring this meeting adjourned, Mayor <br /> <br />Cole urged that in the inter-relationship activities involving both the City and the School <br /> <br />Board, and particularly in the budget processes, every effort be directed toward achieving <br /> <br />full and continuing cooperation. <br /> <br />Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />/"'~j,:r;" C'i~rk of Council <br />',------ <br />
