<br />~ <br /> <br />~16i <br /> <br />TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1985 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, October 22, 1985, in <br /> <br />the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, <br /> <br />with the exception of Councilman Clyde L. Williams (who is recovering from illness), <br /> <br />viz., William C. Cole, Jr., Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice-Mayor; Alfred T. Groden; <br /> <br />and L. D. Oakes. <br /> <br />--- <br /> <br />Following the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome to visitors present, Coun- <br /> <br />cil unanimously approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meeting held <br /> <br />October 8, 1985. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Mr. & <br /> <br />Mrs. Walter Duncan's recent request that Lot No. 22A, situated at 401 Starling Avenue, <br /> <br />be rezoned from "R-6 Residential" to "P-2 Professional". The record notes that no <br /> <br />citizen appeared at this hearing in opposition to the rezoning request; and, there <br /> <br />being no opposition expressed from any source, Mayor Cole declared the public hearing <br /> <br />closed. Whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council accepted <br /> <br />the Planning Commission's recommendation that the request be granted and, in so doing, <br /> <br />unanimously adopted the following ordinance amending the City's Zoning Map to effect <br /> <br />-. <br /> <br />and reflect said rezoning: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br />in regular meeting assembled, that the Zoning Map of the City of <br />Martinsville be--and is hereby--amended to the extent that Lot No. <br />22A, situated at 401 Starling Avenue, is hereby rezoned from "R-6 <br />Residential" to "P-2 Professional". <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by said Council that, an emergency existing, <br />this ordinance shall be in force on and after October 23, 1985. <br /> <br />Council unanimously accepted and adopted proposed amendments (as introduced and placed <br /> <br />on first reading at Council's October 8th meeting) to the City's Electric Service <br />
