~5g

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 1985

Vice-Mayor Severt presented a policy statement issued by the Virginia Municipal

League's Education Policy Committee for presentation to the forthcoming Virginia

Municipal League Conference regarding recommendations and priorities pertaining

to public education in Virginia.

Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344, Sub-sections (a)(l), (a)(2), and

(a)(6), of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and by a recorded and

unanimous vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes of (1)

discussing with legal counsel a contractual matter within the Council's jurisdic-

tion; (2) considering nominees for appointment and/or reappointment to the City's

Industrial Development Authority and to the PSOV Board; and (3) considering the

possible disposal of certain City-owned real estate. Upon reconvening into regular

session, Council took no actions on the foregoing matters except in the case of

the PSOV Board, to which William P. Heath, Jr., was reappointed for a three-year

term beginning September 29, 1985.

Upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council affirmed its recent

agreement that the second regular meeting in September, scheduled for Tuesday, Sep-

tember 24, 1985, is cancelled because of its conflict with the forthcoming Virginia

Municipal League's 1985 conference. Meanwhile, it was determined that any business

matters which can not be postponed until Council's first regular meeting in October

may be considered in a duly-called special session.

Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned.

-}

Council

W.
