<br />147 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, AUGUST 27, 1985 <br /> <br />Council accepted a report from the City Manager on a projected five-year <br /> <br />major equipment program that had been requested during budget preparation <br /> <br />to assist the Council as to vehicle replacement. <br /> <br />Council accepted a report from the City Manager on approval by the <br /> <br />Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development for a Housing <br /> <br />Rehabilitation Grant of $214,570 for the Southside area of the City. <br /> <br />Council accepted a report from the City Manager on Southeastern Power <br /> <br />Administration's (SEPA) decision to allocate 14,000 Kw from Philpott to <br /> <br />six APCo cities, of which Martinsville's allocation would be 13% or 1.82Mw <br /> <br />and 3,250 Mwh. There are still negotiations that have to be made with <br /> <br />APCo as to wheeling charges, Federal tariffs, etc., which could affect the <br /> <br />net financial advantage to the City. <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes noted that he would be attending a meeting in Richmond on <br /> <br />September 25 of the Legislative Committee. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF VIRGINIA <br /> <br />(1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously <br /> <br />carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for <br /> <br />the purposes of considering a contractual matter and a legal matter under <br /> <br />the Council's jurisdiction. <br /> <br />Council took no action. <br /> <br />Upon reconvening into regular session, <br /> <br />Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />
