')8
.{..,J

TUESDAY, JULY 23, 1985

In consideration of Ordinance No. 85-10 amending Chapter 12, Article II,

Section 12-29 of the City Code related to Riding of Bicycles on Streets

and Sidewalks, it was noted that there had been some problems of

enforcement to keep people from riding bicycles on sidewalks in certain

areas of the City, especially on private property such as at the Patrick

Henry Mall, thus there was a need to amend the present Code to protect the

safety of citizens and property. Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Severt,

seconded by Councilman Williams and unanimously carried, Council accepted

this proposed ordinance on first reading, to be considered for adoption at

the August 13 meeting.

In consideration of a report and recommendation from City Manager George

w.

regarding possible amendments to the City's Subdivision

Brown

Ordinance, motion was made by Councilman Groden, seconded by Vice-Mayor

Severt and unanimously carried to refer it to the Planning Commission for

their study and recommendations. It was noted that these amendments were

recommended to bring our procedures in line with State laws and other

localities, to speed up some of our present procedures, and to allow the

City Administration to handle some situations instead of referring to the

Planning Commission.
