TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 1985

The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of

Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was

held Tuesday, June 25, 1985, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning

at 7:30 P.M., all members being present as follows: William C. Cole, Jr.,

Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice-Mayor; Alfred T. Groden; L. D. Oakes; and

Clyde L. Williams.

After the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome to visitors present,

Council unanimously approved the minutes of the regular meeting held June

II, 1985, as submitted.

There being no business from the floor, Mayor Cole proceeded with the

prepared agenda.

Upon motion by Councilman Groden, seconded by Vice-Mayor Severt, and

unanimously

carried,

Council

accepted

the

Planning Commission's

recommendation to approve a request by Allen Knott for the extension of

City water and sewer service at 1424 Rivermont Heights, which is located

in Henry County, providing he conforms with the requirements of the City's

R-6 Residential zoning in the use of the property. Mr. Knott, being

present, noted that he planned to put two mobile home units on the

property, but was informed that this would not comply with R-6 zoning.

Therefore, if he develops his plans as proposed the City cannot extend its

water and sewer service to his property.
