<br />_12 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 1985 <br /> <br />City Manager Brown reported on the tentative allocation of highway <br /> <br />construction funds for the six-year programs beginning FY85-86, noting <br /> <br />that Mulberry Road Extension, Spruce Street, Commonwealth Boulevard <br /> <br />Extension and improvements to Fayette Street/Memorial Boulevard/Church <br /> <br />Street intersection were included. He also noted that the proposed <br /> <br />Martinsville Bypass (6.30 miles in Henry County) connecting US 220 south <br /> <br />of Martinsville with US 58 East was included. <br /> <br />City Manager Brown reported on a resolution adopted by the Henry County <br /> <br />Public Service Authority expressing appreciation for the cooperation of <br /> <br />the City and other local agencies when they experienced a recent water <br /> <br />shortage emergency in the Collinsville area. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown also noted that <br /> <br />the City was in receipt of a permit from the Virginia Department of Health <br /> <br />to operate our public waterworks at a capacity of 10 million gallons per <br /> <br />day with the operation of the Leatherwood Plant. <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344 (subsection a-I) of the <br /> <br />CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded <br /> <br />and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an <br /> <br />Executive Session for the purpose of considering appointments to various <br /> <br />boards and commissions. Upon reconvening into regular session, Council <br /> <br />stated it would be filling two positions on the School Board at the next <br /> <br />meeting. If there were any who wished to serve or be recommended to the <br /> <br />Council for consideration, they should let Council know before that time. <br /> <br />Council then made motions, duly seconded and unanimously carried to make <br />
