-- - 99 TUESDAY, MAY 28, 1985 -- City Manager Brown expressed concerns with respect to the Planning Commission's recommendations to amend the Zoning Ordinance regarding signs related to the proposed setbacks, after which Councilman Groden made a motion, seconded by Councilman Williams, which was unanimously approved to refer the matter back to the City Administration and the City Planning Commission for further study with consideration being given to signs in - the entire City for uniformity. It was noted that the Martinsville Transportation Safety Commission should be consulted regarding any safety problems resulting from signs being located close to street right-of-ways. Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Severt, seconded by Councilman Williams and unanimously carried, Council adopted Ordinance No. 85-7 amending Article VI, Section 12-140 of the City Code related to motor vehicles and driving under the influence laws passed by the General Assembly, to be effective July 1, 1985, as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 85-7 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, BE AMENDED AS TO ARTICLE VI, SECTION 12-140; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF CERTAIN AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS TO STATE LAW. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, that the Code of Ordinances of the City of Martinsville be amended so as Section 12-140 shall read as follows: Section 12-140. Adoption of amendments and additions to motor vehicle laws by reference. The term "laws of the state relative to the operation of vehicles" used in section 12.2 and the term "laws of the state relative to driving a motor vehicle, etc., while intoxicated" used in section 12-3 shall be defined and interpreted to include all such laws in effect on July 1, 1985.
