<br />-- - <br /> <br />99 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, MAY 28, 1985 <br /> <br />-- <br /> <br />City Manager Brown expressed concerns with respect to the Planning <br /> <br />Commission's recommendations to amend the Zoning Ordinance regarding signs <br /> <br />related to the proposed setbacks, after which Councilman Groden made a <br /> <br />motion, seconded by Councilman Williams, which was unanimously approved to <br /> <br />refer the matter back to the City Administration and the City Planning <br /> <br />Commission for further study with consideration being given to signs in <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />the entire City for uniformity. <br /> <br />It was noted that the Martinsville <br /> <br />Transportation Safety Commission should be consulted regarding any safety <br /> <br />problems resulting from signs being located close to street right-of-ways. <br /> <br />Upon motion by Vice-Mayor Severt, seconded by Councilman Williams and <br /> <br />unanimously carried, Council adopted Ordinance No. 85-7 amending Article <br /> <br />VI, Section 12-140 of the City Code related to motor vehicles and driving <br /> <br />under the influence laws passed by the General Assembly, to be effective <br /> <br />July 1, 1985, as follows: <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 85-7 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, VIRGINIA, PROVIDING <br />THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF MARTINSVILLE, BE AMENDED AS <br />TO ARTICLE VI, SECTION 12-140; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF CERTAIN <br />AMENDMENTS AND ADDITIONS TO STATE LAW. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Martinsville, <br />Virginia, that the Code of Ordinances of the City of Martinsville <br />be amended so as Section 12-140 shall read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 12-140. Adoption of amendments and <br />additions to motor vehicle laws by reference. <br /> <br />The term "laws of the state relative to the <br />operation of vehicles" used in section 12.2 and <br />the term "laws of the state relative to driving a <br />motor vehicle, etc., while intoxicated" used in <br />section 12-3 shall be defined and interpreted to <br />include all such laws in effect on July 1, 1985. <br />
