<br />r.~ h) <br />\.I' '-. <br /> <br />MARCH 26, 1985 <br /> <br />TUESDAY <br /> <br />The regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, <br /> <br />with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, March 26, 1985, in the <br /> <br />Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. All members of Council were pre- <br /> <br />sent, as follows: William C. Cole, Jr., Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice-Mayor; Alfred T. <br /> <br />Groden; L. D. Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. <br /> <br />Following the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome to visitors present, Council <br /> <br />presented copies of a resolution (duly adopted) to each member of the Martinsville <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Senior High School's boys basketball team, recognizing and congratulating this team <br /> <br />upon its having recently won the 1984-85 State Class AA basketball championship. <br /> <br />Council also recognized this team's coach, Robert C. ("Husky") Hall, in the form of a <br /> <br />resolution (duly adopted), whose basketball teams during his twenty-two years as Head <br /> <br />Coach have won twelve district titles, eleven regional titles, and six State Class AA <br /> <br />championships. <br /> <br />Council unanimously approved the minutes--as recorded--of its regular meeting held <br /> <br />March 12,1985. <br /> <br />Pursuant to duly-published notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a proposed <br /> <br />amendment--approved by the City's Planning Commission--to the City's Comprehensive <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Plan. There being no objections registered thereto, Mayor Cole declared the public <br /> <br />hearing closed; whereupon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council <br /> <br />approved of said amendment which will incorporate the City School Board's recently- <br /> <br />submitted capital expenditures program in the "Capital Improvements Program" chapter <br /> <br />of said Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Also, pursuant to duly-published notice, Council conducted a public hearing on Grace <br /> <br />United Presbyterian Church's recent petition (presented through Mr. Luther Fontaine) <br /> <br />
