8

TUESDAY

JANUARY 8, 1985

Manager, effective January 15, 1985. Members of Council, through Mayor Cole, also pre-

sented a plaque to Mr. Edmonds as a token of their recognition and appreciation of his

services as City Manager.

Council unanimously went on record as endorsing a proposed Summer Youth Employment

Training Program (1985) to be administered by the West Piedmont Human Resources, Inc.,

for which approval is being sought by this agency from the Central Piedmont Employment

Consortium, with "JTPA" funding.

Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344(a), subsections (1) and (6), of the

CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously

carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purposes

of considering personnel and legal matters. Upon reconvening into regular and open

session, Council took no action on any personnel matters but, as to legal matters,

unanimously retained Mr. Jack F. Hankins, Attorney at Law, after consultation with City

Attorney Worthy, to defend the City Planning Commission and any other respondents cited

in an action being brought against said respondents by Lanier Farms, Inc.

Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned.

w.
