III. 316 TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 1986 A regular semi-monthly meeting of the Council of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, with Mayor William C. Cole, Jr., presiding, was held Tuesday, June 24, 1986, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M., all members being present, viz., William C. Cole, Jr., Mayor; Eliza H. Severt, Vice-Mayor; Alfred T. Groden; L. D. Oakes; and Clyde L. Williams. Following the invocation and Mayor Cole's cordial welcome extended to visitors pre- sent, Council unanimously approved--as recorded--the minutes of its regular meetings held May 27, 1986, and June 10, 1986. Pursuant to duly-published public notice, Council conducted a public hearing on a pro- posed amendment to the City's Housing Services Fund budget for 1985-86, which would ~ncrease said fund by $50,791.00 ($5,028.00 for the personal services category and $45,763.00 for the maintenance-support category), to be financed and/or off-set by a Housing Rehabilitation Grant of $50,791.00 which was approved December 1, 1985. There being no comments fron the public on this matter, Mayor Cole declared the public hearing closed; whereupon Clot ion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council amended said budget as proposed. Having conducted a duly-advertised public hea~ing at its regular meeting held June 10, 1986, for the purpose of receiving "input" from the citizens of Martinsvi11e regarding an appointment or reappointment of a citizen to membership on the Martinsville City School Board, upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried, Council reappointed Mrs. Catherine R. Stone (to succeed herself) to membership on said Board for a three- year term beginning July 1, 1986. (The record notes that, at both the aforesaid public hearing and the meeting covered by these minutes, no other nominees were suggested nor were any objections registered to Mrs. Stone being reappointed.)
