<br />.3c <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 1986 <br /> <br />,- <br /> <br />Mayor Cole suggested that two Councilmen be appointed to serve on a <br /> <br />Committee with City Manager Brown and City Attorney Worthy to review <br />the Franchise Renewal of Martinsville Cable TV, whereupon the Council <br />agreed that Mayor Cole and Councilman Oakes should serve in this <br />capacity. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Pursuant to the requirements of Section 2.1-344 of the CODE OF <br /> <br /> <br />VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and <br /> <br /> <br />unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an <br /> <br />Executive Session for the purposes of (1) considering appointments/ <br /> <br />reappointments to various Boards/Commissions and, (2) considering a <br /> <br />legal matter under the jurisdiction of Council. Upon reconvening in <br /> <br /> <br />open session, Council took the following action: (1) reappointed <br /> <br /> <br />Shelton H. Blackwell and Ben F. Gray to the Planning Commission for <br /> <br /> <br />four-year terms expiring June 30, 1990; and reappointed J. Thomas <br />Vaughan to the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development <br /> <br /> <br />Corporation Board for a four-year term expiring June 30, 1990; and <br /> <br />(2) retained Jack Hankins, Attorney with Broaddus, Epperly & Hankins, <br /> <br />to defend the City Planning Commission in a suit filed by Lanier Road <br /> <br /> <br />residents as to proposed subdivision and development of property at <br /> <br /> <br />the end of Lanier Road. <br /> <br />Mayor Cole then declared this meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Janice B.
