<br />~7 <br /> <br />TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 1986 <br /> <br />Council acknowledged a staff report on upgrading and widening of <br />Smith Lake Road. City Manager Brown noted that three bids had been <br />received on the project, with the low bid being $180,322.85 by Lester <br />Scales Contractor, Inc. The Staff is proceeding with the preparation <br />and execution of contractual documents with construction to begin <br /> <br /> <br />within the next ten days, and project completion within 90 days. The <br /> <br />cost, through June 30, 1986, is to be paid from Revenue Sharing Funds <br /> <br />as previously authorized by the Council. After that time he will <br /> <br /> <br />come back to Council for another appropriation for the next fiscal <br /> <br />year. Councilman Oakes inquired as to an exit from Souths ide Park <br /> <br /> <br />into Smith Lake Road. It was noted that this was not included in the <br /> <br />present plan, but a cost estimate will be determined and report made <br />to Council within 60 days. <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes informed the Council that he would be attending a <br /> <br />Virginia Municipal League Legislative Committee Meeting in Richmond <br /> <br />on Thursday, June 12, 1986. <br /> <br />Councilman Oakes requested that the City notify citizens (through <br />public announcements) of adjustments in utility rates whenever <br />parallel ling APCo's rate increases. City Manager Brown acknowledged <br />that this would be done in the future. <br />
