TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 1986 - Bassett Printing Corporation, Bassett, Virginia. Upon being apprised of the forthcoming expiration (in December of 1986) of the cable- vision franchise held by Multi-Channel T.V. Cable Company of Mansfield (Ohio), t/a Martinsville Cablevision, and after being advised by City Attorney David B. Worthy of current and applicable statutory regulations governing the issuing and/or renewing of cablevision franchises as well as by March 19th letter from Mr. Kir~ Howard Betts, ,-. Attorney at Law, of the Washington (D.C.) law firm of Ely, Ritts, Brickfield & Betts, legal consultants to the City, Council called for a duly-advertised public hearing to be conducted on this matter and in accordance with current statutory regulations at Council's forthcoming regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, 1986, in the Council Chamber, City Hall, beginning at 7:30 P.M. Through City Manager Brown, the Virginia Department of Highways & Transportation in- formed Council that the Department will conduct a "Location & Design" public hearing in Council's Chambers (City Hall) on the proposed Spruce Street Highway Project on Tuesday, May 20, 1986, beginning at 7:30 P.M., with a pre-hearing review scheduled at the same location on Monday, May 19th, from 7:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. ,- Council acknowledged receipt, with appreciation, of a financial report for the third quarter (and the first nine months) of the current budget year, as prepared by Finance Director Richard D. Fitts. In accordance with the requirements of Section 2.1-344, subsection (a)(1), of the CODE OF VIRGINIA (1950, and as amended), and upon motion, duly seconded and unanimously carried by a recorded vote, Council convened into an Executive Session for the purpose of considering nominees for appointment and/or reappointment to certain boards and '"'"- . <-'5~ r:.~ t.,
